Know Dr Hussain Rabia

Know Dr Hussain Rabia

Hussain RabiaDuring February in 2001, as a young cementing engineer with high expectations, I was finally in for the advanced cementing training in Schlumberger. (After a long delay due to the 1998 downturn.)

During the training, a professor called Hussain Rabia was appointed to deliver the Geology and Pore pressure course. To be honest, at that time I was utterly unaware of Dr. Hussain Rabia’s excellent reputation in drilling and well control.

I finished the practice, and 14 years later my young Iraqi apprentice was arriving from his drilling engineering training. He was delighted and proud that Dr. Hussain Rabia had been his training instructor. I immediately, remembered the name and asked my dear apprentice, Who is he? And He proudly said: Dr. Hussain Rabia is our pride.

And indeed He is.

Many thanks Lenin for this nice introduction.

I do remember taking you and two other engineers ( one of them a Brazilian, I recall) to a football match in my car. We also had to change a flat tyre.

A very happy evening as my team then, Leeds United beat Coventry City 1-0. The traditional English dinner Fish and Chips and mushy peas was very nice. The weather was ,of course , very cold. I recall the Brazilian engineer saying after entering the stadium : this is like a theater…it was.

    Happy memories.

    The very best of luck.
    regards
    Hussain Rabia

Following the loss of my job few months ago after a 20 year long career, I started to post in LinkedIn, a series of 'Cementing Challenges' to keep ours minds 'active' around our beloved topic of well Cementing. This interaction with our community and their reaction to the 'challenges' was a fruitful learning experience, but to be honest it wasn’t enough to fill the space this downturn has left by keeping me away from the 'action'. This inspired me to go further not abandoning my passion in Cementing, but to dedicate a web site to well cementing and helping people.
